Coupled with past trauma and pain, her loss snapped the final tether of resilience. ![]() ![]() Following the tragic accidental death of her 5-year-old son, Susan’s world collapsed. Burton, the 2018 winner of the NAACP Image Award for outstanding literary work in biography/autobiography, is distributed in partnership with on the ground re-entry groups and in conjunction with ongoing visits and lectures by Susan Burton to prisons nationwide.
